September 3rd- Portland

After a hearty breakfast of blintzes and tea we headed out from the Wolf Creek Inn. No stops this time. We went straight through to Portland, or more specifically Beaverton which is a suburb of Portland. The inn that we are staying in is owned by a very nice couple who actually attended Cal Poly years ago. They built this 10,000 square foot inn themselves. It's set in a beautiful location, there is a valley with vineyards to my right, and a pine forest on my left.

It's still unnaturally warm for this part of the world, but I guess I should enjoy it when I get a chance. We went to a Jewish deli for lunch, there aren't too many restaurants close by and I didn't want to drive anymore today. Afterwards I actually went on a bike ride just right around here. The combination of me being out of shape and the immense-seeming hills made it very difficult but great. There was one stretch of the ride that was bordered by wild blackberries that smelled and tasted delicious. This later opened up onto a vineyard with the sunset. Very picturesque. I'll put photos up eventually.

For dinner we just sat on the porch here and finished our meals from lunch. We talked a bit with the hosts and then went back to our room. Mom read her book and I frantically tried to figure out my financial aid confusion. Took a shower (they had the fluffiest towels EVER!) and now I am writing this out on the porch. The crickets are very loud.

Nice day.

The beds seem more comfortable here :)

  1. Here goes another try., I've been tracking you all the way on your trip., It sounds good to me. What kind of blintzes did you have? I hope they were as good as mine. Hmmmm. As I write this I'm looking back at your writing. I don't think it is so warm anymore. Mom is home and I hear you are really liking it up there. Your room looks great. Arranges just perfectly. Hope you will have time to write during your busy year. Be well and enjoy yourself Love, Grandma
