September 1st - Leaving home

Today we left Northridge. After an eventful packing session that lasted many hours we hit the road with much enthusiasm. Stopped in SLO for a delicious lunch at Firestones where I got my tritip fix and Mom got her salmon sandwich. SLO of course was beautiful, wonderful, although slightly too warm for my liking.

After a very long drive up to Danville we finally made it to our hotel which looks out on the lovely 680 freeway. We walked across the freeway to our dinner destination where we met Brian, Christine, Anna, Rachel. We had much rousing conversation concerning random things. I had delicious chicken scallopini, with a fig sauce and polenta. Then for dessert I had a butterscotch budino (essentially custard) and mom had a sampler of three very potent grappas.

Tomorrow we will set out leisurely for Grants Pass. We will stop in Redding and then anywhere else that catches our fancy. Hope all is well at home.
